Queen West &

Little Portugal

West Queen W., recently named the second coolest neighbourhood in the world by Vogue, has always been incredibly cool and artsy. Vogue writer, Nick Remsen, describes the neighbourhood as “a verifiable artery of indie patisseries, homegrown labels, and hidden-from-view galleries—hallmarks of hipness if ever they existed.” The area is bound on the west by Lansdowne Avenue, on the north by College Street, on the east by Bathurst Street and on the south by the Go Transit and Union Pearson Express railway tracks.

West Queen West is brimming with new boutique condominium buildings as well as condominium townhomes. On the tree-lined streets tucked to the north of Queen West, you’ll see many charmingly small and mid-size Victorian-style homes.

Little Portugal has a walk score of 86, a transit score of 97 and a bike score of 84. A number of streetcars in this area can connect passengers to any part of the city they wish to go. Taking you eastbound and westbound, you have the 501 on Queen, the 505 on Dundas and the 506 on College, and taking you northbound and southbound, you have the 511 Bathurst. By car, you have easy access to downtown the Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore, and access to city streets that can take you north to the 401.
